GEO for SaaS: get your product recommended when buyers ask AI
Last updated
The questions SaaS buyers ask AI
Software buyers rarely ask an assistant about a category in the abstract. They ask for a shortlist, a head-to-head or a way out of a tool they already pay for. When you add your website, GEOHATS reads it and suggests 30 to 38 questions like these, grouped as alternatives, comparisons, competitor questions and advice questions. You can star the ones that matter, pause the rest and add your own.
| Pattern | Example (fictional product) | Pages AI tends to draw on | What GEOHATS gives you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best X for Y | best invoicing app for freelance designers | Roundup and listicle pages, review-site category pages, community threads | Article (a ranked roundup that names real products and links its sources) |
| X vs Y | Tallybook vs Competitor A | Comparison pages from either vendor or a third party, review-site comparisons | Comparison (an instant answer, then a verdict per factor with sources) |
| X alternatives | Competitor A alternatives for small teams | Alternatives roundups, review-site alternatives lists | Article (an alternatives roundup) |
| X pricing | how much does Competitor A cost | The vendor's own pricing page, pricing write-ups, review sites | Your own pricing page first; GEOHATS checks AI crawlers can read it |
“Pages AI tends to draw on” describes the kinds of sources these answers cite, not a measured share. Your own scans show exactly which pages are cited for your questions.
Why comparison pages and review sites matter for SaaS
A versus or alternatives question has to be answered from pages that compare products. If the only such pages are written by your competitor or by an affiliate site that left you out, the answer is built from them. A comparison page on your own site, with a clear verdict per factor and links to each vendor’s own documentation, gives the assistant a source that includes you.
Review sites are the other half. In Peec AI’s March 2026 analysis of 30 million cited sources, G2 was among the five domains Perplexity cited most, and it was not in the top five for any other engine (details in our guide to showing up as a source in Perplexity). A complete, current G2 or Capterra profile with real customer reviews is work no tool can do for you, but GEOHATS shows which third-party pages are cited for each of your questions, so you know which profiles and roundups are worth the effort.
You can see the format on this site: our tool comparisons and alternatives guidesare the kind of page this section describes, with prices checked on each vendor’s own pricing page.
A worked example: the loop on a fictional SaaS
Tallybook is a made-up invoicing app for freelance designers, and Competitor A and Competitor B are made-up rivals. Nothing below is a real customer or a real result; it shows what each step of GEOHATS does.
- 1
Add the website
The founder adds the Tallybook URL and who it is for. GEOHATS fills in the product description, the pages to link to, and the fonts and colors from the site, then suggests buyer questions such as “best invoicing app for freelance designers”, “Tallybook vs Competitor A” and “Competitor B alternatives”. - 2
Run the first scan
With an OpenAI and an Anthropic key connected, the scan asks ChatGPT and Claude each question and records whether Tallybook is named, which pages are cited and which competitors are cited instead. The app shows the cost estimate before it runs. - 3
Pick a question Tallybook loses
On the map, “Tallybook vs Competitor A” shows as losing with no page: the answers cite Competitor A’s own comparison page and a review-site category page. Opening the question shows, per assistant, who it quotes today. - 4
Write the comparison page
GEOHATS writes a comparison page in Tallybook’s own fonts and colors, using the pages cited today as research. The quality gate blocks it if it has no source links, no links to Tallybook’s own pages, no table or FAQ, no schema, an unmarked placeholder or a banned AI phrase. - 5
Check the facts and publish
The founder checks every claim about Competitor A and every price, then publishes to the Tallybook blog through its WordPress connection (or downloads the HTML). The review-site page that was cited goes on the mention-opportunities list with a drafted outreach email. - 6
Re-check weekly
A weekly scan asks the same question again. If an assistant cites the new page, it moves to “cited” on its own. That usually takes 2 to 8 weeks when it happens; it is not guaranteed.

What GEOHATS does and what you do yourself
| Task | GEOHATS | You |
|---|---|---|
| Find buyer questions | Suggests 30 to 38 from your site; can research more | Star, pause or add questions |
| Track AI answers | Asks five assistants, records mentions, citations and competitors | Connect keys, pick engines, set daily or weekly checks |
| Comparison and roundup pages | Writes them with Claude (with an Anthropic key) and runs the quality gate | Check competitor claims and prices, then publish |
| Reviews of a competitor | Writes the review from your notes, or a testing checklist without them | Use the product and write first-hand notes |
| Review sites and third-party pages | Lists the third-party pages cited for your questions and drafts outreach emails | Keep profiles complete, ask real customers for reviews, send the emails |
| Technical access for AI crawlers | Crawls your site as AI crawlers see it; writes fixes back to supported CMSs, with undo | Fix what needs a developer, such as server rendering |
| Social and community posts | Drafts LinkedIn, Medium, Reddit and YouTube posts from a page | Review and post from your own account |
Start with technical access: if AI crawlers can’t read your site, no page will be cited. The free AI crawler check tests whether ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity can fetch your homepage, and the site optimizer runs the full crawl, including the check for pages that only render with JavaScript.
Which GEOHATS tier fits a SaaS team
All three tiers run the same software; they differ in how many websites you can add. Prices are one-time and rise as licenses sell, so the figures below are today’s.
| Tier | Price today | Pages per site crawl | Fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 sites | $47 once | 150 | One product with its marketing site, plus room for a docs site or a second product |
| 10 sites | $97 once | 300 | Several products or brands, or separate domains per market |
| Unlimited | $249 once | 500 | A studio or holding company with a portfolio of products |
On top of the license you pay your AI providers at cost. The app estimates about $4.17 for a 30-question scan on all five assistants, and pages have cost roughly $0.20 to $0.50 each in our own runs. Details on the pricing page.
The parts of GEOHATS a SaaS team uses
- AI visibility tracking: the score, the question map and the competitors cited instead, re-checked on a schedule.
- AI content writer: comparison, roundup and statistics pages built from the competitor pages cited today, with a quality gate.
- Site optimizer: a crawl of your site as AI crawlers see it, with fixes written back to your CMS.
- MCP server: if your team works in Cursor or Claude Code, pull the brief for a question and hand back a page your agent wrote, without spending a run.

FAQ
What is GEO for SaaS?
Generative engine optimization (GEO) for SaaS is the work of getting your product named and your pages cited when buyers ask AI assistants which tool to use. For software that mostly means comparison questions, best-of shortlists, alternatives to a competitor and pricing questions.
Which AI assistants does GEOHATS check?
ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and Grok, each through its own API with web search on, using your own keys. Google AI Overviews is optional, with your own SerpAPI key.
Will GEOHATS write pages about my competitors?
Yes. For a versus question it writes a comparison page with a verdict per factor and links to sources such as the vendors' own docs and pricing pages. You are the publisher, so check every claim about a competitor and every price before it goes live. A review of a single competitor needs your own first-hand notes; without them GEOHATS gives you a testing checklist instead of a page.
Do I still need G2 or Capterra if I have comparison pages?
Usually yes. AI assistants cite third-party pages as well as vendor pages, and review sites are among them. GEOHATS shows which third-party pages are cited for your questions and drafts an outreach email for each; a complete review-site profile and real customer reviews are work you do yourself, within each platform's rules.
How long until AI cites a new page?
Typically 2 to 8 weeks, if it gets cited at all. Assistants have to crawl and index the page first. GEOHATS keeps re-checking the question and marks the page as cited when an assistant links it. There is no guarantee with the self-serve tool.
What does it cost?
GEOHATS is a one-time purchase: $47 for 3 websites, $97 for 10 or $249 for unlimited at today's prices. You pay your AI providers directly: the app estimates about $4.17 for a 30-question scan on all five assistants, and pages have cost roughly $0.20 to $0.50 each in our own runs.
Our marketing site is a JavaScript app. Can AI read it?
Maybe not. The crawlers behind ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity don't run JavaScript, so text that only appears after scripts run is invisible to them. The site optimizer flags pages where AI sees an empty page, and the free AI crawler check tests your homepage without an account.
Does GEOHATS post to Reddit or LinkedIn for us?
No. It can draft LinkedIn, Medium, Reddit and YouTube posts from a page, but nothing is posted automatically. You review each draft and post it from your own account.
